SMASH Hackathon 2021 - Be innovative and accept the challenge!

12 Mar 2021

The first ever international SMASH Hackathon in April 2021 invites teams to solve challenges with ambition to take their solution to international markets.

SMASH Global Sustainable Sports Hackathon looks for solutions that increase sustainability of global sports events and business. During 48 hours teams will create solutions for the challenges set by challenge owners. Teams can be startups, SMAs, scaleups, established organizations or idea-stage teams of curious individuals or university-level students. Hackathon is fully online and teams will have business-oriented mentors helping them during these two days.

Think outside the box and offer something new

Both challenges are about sustainability to celebrate Lahti - European Green Capital 2021. First challenge is How to minimize the carbon footprint in international sports events?  and challenge owners are Lahti Region Development LADEC Ltd and Lahti - European Green Capital 2021. The second challenge “How to make sports more accessible for people with disabilities with innovative training material distribution? is set by Finnish Olympic and Paralympic eTraining Center Pajulahti (Sport Institute Pajulahti) and Finnish Paralympic Committee.

See the detailed challenge descriptions here.

This call is for innovative teams who have bright and novel ideas. We hope the teams can think outside the box and offer something very different. Solutions can be for example a new technology, concept, service or anything else innovative.

Direct contacts and global matchmaking

The prizes are set by the challenge owners. Winners in each challenge will meet meaningful contacts and network. With organizers´ help your team has an opportunity to take control of the market in Finland and make use of the winter sports export networks to Asia.
