SMASH collaborates with SPORTS TECH TOKYO

16 Jun 2021

After the successful events in Helsinki (2016-2018), Turku (2019), London (2018, 2019) and Lahti (2020, 2021), SMASH is taking a new step and heads to Japan in December.

As a part of SMASH’s new role in Lahti Sport Business Hub, SMASH Tokyo sees the daylight on 8-9 December 2021.

- We at SMASH are pleased to be able to help Lahti sports and startup ecosystem and act as a bridge builder between Europe and Asia, says Arto Ahola, the CEO and co-founder of Smash Mill Ltd.

SMASH Tokyo is organized in close cooperation with Lahti Region Development LADEC, City of Lahti, Business Finland, Finnish Embassy in Japan and Japanese partners. As first partner from Japan, SMASH is proud and honoured to announce partnership with SPORTS TECH TOKYO.

- Our collaboration with SPORTS TECH TOKYO really warms my heart. It is a two-way street when we help each other in connecting the networks both from Europe and Japan. I really look forward to working with SPORTS TECH TOKYO in making SMASH history, rejoices Ahola.

SPORTS TECH TOKYO accelerator program was launched in October 2018 by Dentsu and Scrum Ventures. Since then, SPORTS TECH TOKYO has grown into a global business development platform with sports tech at its core with approximately 300 applicants from 33 countries. The aim of SPORTS TECH TOKYO Tokyo is to bring together the best and brightest ideas and startups from around the world. And not just startups and corporate partners, there are also over 100 mentors and over 50 sponsoring organizations in the program.

SPORTS TECH TOKYO, in collaboration with the Japan Sports Agency, runs an acceleration program and awards to honor sports and pioneering initiatives aimed at expanding the sports industry under the name of INNOVATION LEAGUE since 2020.

SMASH Tokyo takes place in the Metsä Pavilion in Tokyo on 8-9 December 2021. The event will be organized either on site and/or hybrid. The programme will be launched in August 2021.
